Meet Paul Choe

Where were you born? Rockville Center, Long Island

Where did you go for college? SUNY Binghamton.

How did you get into finance? I majored in Economics in college and I’m not terrible at math so finance was the logical path for me to take.

How long have you worked at ScrollMotion? Going on 5 years now.

What brought you to ScrollMotion? I was interested in getting into the tech industry and was presented with an opportunity to check out ScrollMotion, fresh out of college.

What do you like most about working at ScrollMotion? The culture here is fantastic. It’s a positive work environment with great energy.

What is your favorite thing about your career? My team. I’m really thankful to have such a solid team that sticks together and helps each other out.

What do you do for fun outside of ScrollMotion? I like to cook and bake. 
What is your specialty dish? My Korean food isn’t that bad. I think my bulgogi and spicy pork is pretty good. I like to make dishes that require a lot of time. It’s really rewarding when you’re all done!

Who was the last person that called or texted you? My boss, Ron.

What is the last thing you searched for on Google? Market Hotel Brooklyn. It’s a music venue in Brooklyn.

What is your favorite app on your phone besides ScrollMotion? Spotify.

What’s the first CD/album you bought? I think it was a Linkin Park album in junior high.

What music are you currently listening to? I like a lot of electronic music.

What TV show are you currently watching? Game of Thrones!

What movie makes you laugh the most? Recently, it’s been 22 Jump Street.

What is your guilty pleasure? I can’t resist savory snacks like chips and fries.

What’s your favorite kind of chips? Kettle Cooked’s Salt & Vinegar.

What is your spirit animal? A sloth, for sure.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what is his/her name? I have a Shiba named Momo. I got her back in college with no prior knowledge on how to raise dogs, and she’s turned out to be the sweetest pup I could ask for.pchoe-IMG_7310

What worst gift you have ever received? I got the 50 Shades aof Grey book at a friend’s white elephant party a couple of years ago.

Do you like a nickname? A lot of people call me Choe, my last name.

What’s the coolest thing about you? I try not to take myself too seriously.

How many countries have you been to? 3 countries: Korea, Ireland, and Canada.

What’s something at the top of your bucketlist? I really want to go to Vietnam because I love their cuisine.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Seeing dirty dishes in the sink is probably up there.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Flight or the ability to manipulate metal. I’m a big fan of Magneto from X-Men.

What makes you happiest? Knowing my friends and family are healthy.

What fad do you wish would come back, and which do you wish would stay gone forever? I kinda want disco music to be big again, and I really wish vaping culture would go away.

What was the last book you read? I’m re-reading a series called Wool Omnibus.

Of all the books you’ve read, the one book you recommend the most is… Probably Wool Omnibus, if you’re into sci-fi.

What is the most important thing to remember in your work? You’re part of a bigger picture and that everybody contributes in their own way.

Biggest threat to your productivity is… When someone sends me a message. I simply cannot ignore it. I have to respond right away or I feel guilty!

And you overcome that how? I type fast.
