Where were you born? Kaneville, Illinois. It’s a suburb of Chicago, deep in the
New York or San Diego office? San Diego.
Where did you go for college? I attended University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for undergrad and San Diego State (SDSU) for grad school.
What was your major? I majored in Media for my undergrad, with a Communications minor. My graduate program was in Learning Design and Technology.
How long have you worked at ScrollMotion? Just over 6 months.
What brought you to ScrollMotion? I had previously worked for a competitor, so I was already well-aware of ScrollMotion when I started my job hunt. ScrollMotion had (and still has) a great reputation in the industry and I knew my skills would be a perfect match, so I reached out.
What do you like most about working at ScrollMotion? I really appreciate the strong focus on employee engagement and retention. It makes you feel like a really valued member of the team.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job? My position’s focus is on ensuring our customers are happy and that they continue to find value in our product. This means making sure they’re heard and then advocating on their behalf, which everyone appreciates – and that feels good.
What is your favorite app on your phone besides ScrollMotion? Probably Waze. It only helps me get to places faster, but it takes me via new and interesting routes, which is good for my brain.
What’s the wallpaper on your phone? It’s a brightly colored abstract watercolor. I like a lot of color!
What fad do you wish would come back?Which do you wish would stay gone forever? My husband and I live in the same neighborhood as several of our friends, so I’m hoping to bring the progressive dinner party back. My grandparents used to do it with their neighbors and said it was a blast! I don’t think they’re quite gone yet, but I would be completely okay with boy bands going away forever.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever won? I haven’t won any contests in my lifetime, but I feel pretty lucky to have scored my husband.
What do you do for fun outside of ScrollMotion? Lately my life revolves around my new baby, which means a lot of time at home. One place we manage to visit a lot is the San Diego Zoo. They have changing tables and family bathrooms everywhere, which I deeply appreciate since the baby came along.
Who is the last person that called or texted you? I took a cruise over the summer for a friend’s bachelorette and the cruise line just called me to try to sell me another trip. I’m a pretty hardcore phone screener so they never had a chance.
What TV show should everyone be watching? The Good Wife. It’s about law, which is interesting on its own, but they also mirror popular current issues/events in their plot lines, like tech privacy and the election. So good!
What’s the first CD/album you bought? I think it was The Lion King soundtrack.
What’s your guilty pleasure? I’m a sucker for romantic period dramas like Pride and Prejudice. I will watch anything that even remotely resembles a Jane Austen novel.
What movie makes you laugh the most? I love pretty much all Will Ferrell movies. Elf is probably my favorite.
What’s the most fun thing you’ve ever dressed up as? I was Mary Poppins once for Halloween. That’s one of my favorite movies.
Who would you like to play you in a movie? Tina Fey.
What is the one food you cannot resist? Any kind of dessert. I have a serious sweet tooth.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? I would love to have the ability to instantly transport myself anywhere in the world.
If you could only take 3 items with you to a deserted island, what would they be? A sand-resistant laptop, a solar charger, and a really powerful wireless internet adapter.
What’s the craziest thing you have ever done? I’m not a big risk-taker but my friend convinced me to go cliff-jumping in Hawaii and that was probably the scariest thing I have ever done (and will never do again).
Biggest threat to your productivity is… Being interested in a lot of different things and wanting to go in too many directions.
And you overcome that how? I am pretty diligent about making to-do lists and mapping out what I want or need to accomplish each day.
What’s an average night’s sleep for you? 7-8 hours. The baby is a surprisingly good sleeper (knock on wood).
The last thing to amaze you was? Any time the baby does something new I am totally amazed.
What was the last new thing she did? She recently started sitting up on her own. It’s the small stuff, but it blows your mind when they suddenly start doing something they couldn’t do before!
What was the last book you read? Lean In by Sherl Sandberg. She’s the COO of Facebook, and in the book she discusses and shares her own stories about women in the workplace, leadership, and gender equality. It’s a great book.
Of all the books you’ve read, the one book you recommend the most is… Bossy Pants by Tina Fey. It’s hilarious. It’s one of the only books I’ve read where I actually laughed out loud while reading it.
If you could call up one person living or dead that you could work one-on-one with, it would be… Dave Grohl. I’m a huge Foo Fighters fan. I don’t know if it would really be considered “work”, but I’d ask him for a drum lesson.
You can’t succeed in customer success without… Good communication skills. The role is very cross-departmental in that you are working to help customers succeed throughout their entire journey with your company. You have to work well with every department and make sure you are in the loop of what is happening throughout the company.
You unwind by… Playing with my dog or dancing with the baby around the house.
If your life could be defined by one word, it would be… Blessed!
